Description: This old chair found in Mora NM has wonderful use and patina to its surface.  Mortise and tenon is used for all the joints.  The top panel across the leg rails is carved in the front with a couple sprigs of leaves on branches.  The back of this board has been chipped out creating more detail on the backside.  The foot rail in the front shows great wear from shoes rubbing on it over the years.   The slats for the back are three hourglass shaped wood pieces.  The chair is solid and rests squarely on the ground. It’s rare to find such an early New Mexican chair in such good condition.

Condition:   Wear and age to the wood consistent with age.  The chair was at one time painted green, and there are a few remnants of this color.
