Description: This old and original cradleboard has stripped floor sacks as the lattice to secure the baby once in the cradleboard. The hoop at the top is to support a blanket or shawl or some fabric to protect the baby from the sun and insects. The two boards making up the base are classic to the structure of Navajo cradleboards, where as Pueblo cradleboards are made of one single slab of wood. The lowest piece of wood which hands vertical, would typically lay horizontal to support the baby and its feet.
