A Rare Pair of Comanche Earrings, Buffalo Heads and all!

Comanche

1890 | Silver | Item 2019

The is a beautiful pair of earrings, so charming with the different geometric parts including well executed buffalo heads. The earrings are made for pierced ears and begin at the top with a round, silver disc stamped into 8 sections. This disc is then attached to a buffalo head cut out showing the horns, the eyes and markings of hair for the top and the bottom. The length of the nose has a lightening bolt that ends with an arrow just above the mouth. Moving down from the buffalo head is another smaller disc, this time cut into 4 sections. Below the small disc is the final piece, that being a trapezoidal shape ending with a wide, serrated bottom. The small upper end and the large lower end are lined with very fine rocker engraving adjacent to a simple, single stamp to make a section break. The age on these is wonderful as proof by the warm, worn patina.
