A Wonderful Acoma Polychrome Bowl, Circa 1905 – 1925

Acoma Pueblo

1905 - 1925 | Clay | Item 2238

This is a beautiful and finely executed Acoma bowl. The precision-like work is a call back to the classic era of Acoma pottery. A complex arrangement of shapes all come together to make a balanced and satisfying visual experience. The designs are too complicated to explain, so a picture speaks a 1000 words. Most notable besides the designs is how thin the walls of the vessel are. There are no cracks or chips and no restoration. One can see how the red color has shifted in areas from a lighter to a thicker coating. I imagine this is been the case since it was first fired.
