An Articulating Choker Mexican Necklace, Circa 1950

Mexico

Circa 1950 | Silver, Spiny Oyster, Brass | Item 2304

This is a stunning necklace. There are 5 segmented silver pieces that marry into each other like a centipede. The center is the largest and inlaid with spiny oyster shell then topped with inlay work showing a sun with rays. Each segment is a thick piece of silver, graded at 950 as stamped on the back. The front working shows hammer facets creating shimmering light. The segments are all linked on the back and not visible on the front. The chain has a highly complex design of interconnected rings all layered together. The spiny oyster shell has both beautiful color and a smooth, worn patina. The sun is laid out in brass over the spiny oyseter shell, which is then topped with stone inlay.
