An Early Comanche Neck Tie

Navajo or Comanche

Circa 1900 | Silver, Copper | Item 1992

I originally thought this to be a ring, but I’ve since been told that it is likely a Comanche neck tie. The ring size still fits, and it surely could be worn as a ring, but interesting to know of its original use. The silver stamp work on the front is wonderful and suggests Navajo. There is a central, vertical axis of stamp marks, then a horizontal stamp marks from the center. Finally, the ring is bordered with a stamped dot within a half arc. Measuring at 10 ring size, the copper band might suggest Comanche, but could as well be Navajo. The silver front is curved to fit the radius of the copper band. The ring shows much wear.
