This is an elegant bulto by Frank Applegate of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Joseph, wearing a crown, is holding Jesus in his right hand. Joseph is wearing a dark robe tied at the waist with a sash. Beneath the rob is red clothing. He rests on the original stand. He is made of wood, covered with gesso and then painted. The elongated features and proportions makes this a particularly attractive bulto.
