This is an unusual 3rd phase variant chief’s blanket.  The center portion is done in the classic style of stepped diamonds, where as the top and bottom bands and done in a meandering stepped pattern with each stepped portion filled with a 4 tiered bar.

The wool wefts of this blanket are; cream white hand-spun, variegated brown hand-spun, indigo blue hand-spun and raveled flannel dyed most likely with a synthetic red dye.
