Fine and Early Kiowa Strike-A-Light Bag

Kiowa

Commercial Hide, Glass Beads, Tin, Hide | Item 2262

This is one of the finest Kiowa strike a light bags that I have seen. The front design is bold and powerful – a simple tower built by steps of white, deep blue, and burgundy beads all set on a lighter blue background. The sides are trimmed with white beads. The back is beaded on the lower section and is more playful than the front. We have all the same bead colors from the front plus a greasy yellow. The top flap has a small silver concho or button and white, light blue and greasy yellow framing the edge. The top flap and bottom are lined with fine cones. The hide hanging strap at the top has two, early, large, glass beads. The lower corners have, on each side, two drops covered in tin. The hide drops are done in the classic Kiowa braided style.
