Historic Zuni Canteen

Item: 585

Origin: Pueblo – Zuni
Date: Last quarter of the 19th Century
Media: Clay
Dimensions: 4.15 x 4.25 x 2.75 inches

Description: Small Zuni canteen with a white tail heart line deer (notice the genitals included).  There is a branch with berries on one side and a dragonfly on the other.  The under belly is a dark chocolate brown.  A small chip to the rim is the only issue (this may not be a chip but instead a bit of missing glaze as the rim is totally intact).  The fineness of workmanship here is very high. The petite nature makes this a very dear item.  Provenance is from Larry Frank to Tony Abeyta to my gallery.
