Historic Zuni Hawikuh Polychrome Bowl

Zuni

1630 - 1680 | Clay | Item 2288

This is an early, historic, Zuni Hawikuh bowl dating right up to the Pueblo revolt. The exterior is painted with a low reflective glaze with a repeating design of unknown origin. The interior is painted a beautiful red with wear evident in the center. The proportions of this bowl – its depth and curvature – make it particularly wonderful.
