Hopi Piki Bowl with Native Repair
Hopi
Clay, Resin | Item 2583
The simple form and surface coloration on this Hopi piki bowl make this a beautiful example. Piki bowls were used to make pike bread and were never decorated with designs leaving only the honey colored slip to cover the surface. An area along the side was damaged a long time ago and fixed with a Native repair with pine pitch or resin. Another area along the rim was broken some time ago and restored. These areas are all pointed in the photos.
