Large Hopi Vase, Nampeyo Family, Circa 1930

Hopi - the Nampeyo Family

Circa 1925 - 1935 | Clay | Item 2604

This is a beautifully executed, large, Hopi vase. The designs have the quality of the Nampeyo family, likely one of Nampeyo’s daughters. The design is divided up into four equal segments with two patterns being shown. All the patterns show abstractions of birds and feathers, with two of the deigns incorporating red slip. The top and bottom border, as well the separation of the four segments, are done with three, thin lines.
