Large, Intact Hohokam Plainware Jar

Arizona, Hohokam

Clay | Item 2073

This is a sublimely beautiful jar. Measuring 13 1/2″ in diameter, the shape is classic Hohokam, with the widest diameter at only about 1/3 the way up. The upper 2/3rds of the jar has a steep incline to the rim, where a 1/2″ nearly vertical neck climbs to the top. The surface is highly textural, sandy in color with multiple charcoal colored fire clouds throughout. There are no cracks, breaks nor restoration. The rim shows a few, small chips.
