Navajo Brass Military Tobacco Canteen

Description: This canteen has material that likely came from brass shell ammunition for its construction.  There is rocker engraving circling the edge on both sides.   In the center on one side is a US government issued brass button that says US INDIAN SERVICE with an eagle in the center.  This was originally a button for a shirt or coat.  There is wonderful wear to the surface and a very good showing of usage and age.  The brass cap is attached to the body with a piece of hide.

Condition:  Condition is original without restoration.
