Navajo Double Saddle Blanket with Crosses

Navajo

Wool | Item 2291

This is an interesting and very attractive Navajo double saddle blanket. The empty, white center is frame by a designed at the top and the bottom. This design consists of 7 joined triangles topped with a cross. Orange, tan and dark brown are used as the colors, all set against a grey background. The white center is hand spun wool weft and there are three bands that show the shifting difference in the white yarns. This all adds up to make an attractive blanket. The marching triangles with a cross at the top reminds me of churches, and as well of Georgia O’keeffe.
