Navajo Ketoh or Bow Guard
Navajo
Circa 1925 | Silver, Turquoise, Commercial Hide | Item 2539
This is a highly skilled and complex cast Navajo ketoh that results in a beautiful expression. In the center is a large, turquoise diamond cut stone with metallic inclusions. This diamond turquoise is surround by a complex layering of curved borders and round points. Each end is anchored by a three part system the spans the upper and lower borders. The silver work does not touch the long borders on either side. The ketoh is attached with a cloth ribbon to thick commercial hide that acts as the bracelet to secure to the arm. This commercial hide is likely the original cuff. While the hide is stiff, it is flexible enough to wear.
