Navajo Single Saddle Chief’s Style Weaving

Item: 1121

Origin: Navajo
Date: Circa 1910

Media: Wool

Dimensions: 38″ x 32″

Description: This may be a single saddle, however it does not appear to have been used as such.  This might be a small study of a Navajo Chief’s style weaving.  Whatever the reasons that brought this blanket about, it’s a sweet, restrained study of the banded blanket with diamonds added in.  The original colors of blue and red have faded to soft, pastel hues of pink and steel blue.   One of the dark bands is nearly black – found at one end – whereas the rest are variations of brown.

Condition:  Condition is excellent with no restoration.
