Description: This is an unusual and rare Navajo silver-smithed canteen. Everything about it suggest a late 19th to early 20th century making. The front has two criss-crossed silver arrows in the center. Stamping around this center includes file marks in a circle with punched dots between. A wave like impression goes all around the edging. The other side has a button of silver in the center soldered to the copper. This silver has a symmetrical series of punches to make a star. This is surrounded by a circle of parenthesis marks facing each other. Next is a circle of punched, small arrows alternating with the dot punch mark. The outer edge has is lined with semi circle punch marks. The copper chain is original to the canteen. The patina is amazing and shows much age and wear.
