New Mexican Spanish Colonial Pine Bench, Circa 1870

New Mexican Spanish Colonial

Circa 1870 | Pine | Item 819

This is a great and old New Mexican, pine bench. The style is a bit later than the early, classic benchs of New Mexico. This one is larger and has the curvilinear arms and legs characteristic of the last quarter of the 19th century. The workmanship is all mortis and tenon. There are nails added, but this happened late to secure certain areas. There was a patch in the seat where a knot used to be. The patch has fallen out and the hole is left exposed. This is a rare find and would look great along a portico space.
