This is a rare pair of New Mexican tin candelabras, having been in one Santa Fe, NM family for three generations. The base is weighted (sand) and is stamped with small stars all in a line, between a “Y” figure stamp that is all connected around in two layers. The frame extension for the top part is stamped with the same flower motif. There are three candle holders per candelabra. These are simple in form and together create a dramatic look. The surface has the original wear and discoloration. A bit of cleaning up would make these both look in better shape, if that is the objective. Many people prefer the original, aged, look, so this is how they will remain until they are sold.

Recent research shows that these Candelabras could be by Francisco Sandoval (1860 – 1949) ca. 1920 – 1930. Similar example pg 145, fig 6.5, New Mexico Tinwork, 1849 – 1949, Coulter & Dixon. Francisco Sandoval’s tinshop (Ojalateria) was on Water St. in 1916 Pg 143, NM Tinwork.
