This is an exceptional example of a Pueblo Manta with diagonal twill in the body and diamond twill on the upper and lower, blue borders. What makes this so great is the richness of color of the natural brown weft and the indigo blue weft. The browns have a fair amount of red in them and this is a prefect contrast to the cool, indigo blue. The second quality is how the weaver introduced lighter weft in places; notice the thin lines across the brown body. As well, the weaver used lighter warps on one side making for a plaid pattern. These two qualities make for higher contrast and more variation to a body of brown wool that would normally be more mundane. These sorts of anomalies are unusual for Pueblo weavers, but more common with the Navajo.
