Sioux Beaded Knife Sheath

Sioux

Circa 1880 | Hide, Glass Beads, Sinew | Item 2027

The is a very nice early reservation period knife sheath. It is beaded only on one side and has two hide drops at the tip partially wrapped in quill work with a single tin cone on one end. The beads are white, dark blue and deep red with white hearts. There was a row, place one third the way down, of short hide strips ending with tin cones with only one cone remaining. The hide for the beads is thicker and appears to be buffalo. The back hide is thinner and is likely deer. The beads are all sinew sewn.
