Small Acoma Jar, Circa 1920

Circa 1920 | Clay | Item 2239

This is a beautiful, small Acoma Jar. It is finely painted and on thin and well formed pottery walls. There are three bands starting with a geometrical arrangement of triangles followed by rectangles on their corners split in two. The final, bottom row is made up of triangles on their sides filled in with hatches. Each, large end of them has two mounds protruding out. Below this is the red painted base. The inside rim has the same red going down about 1″. The writing on the bottom is hard to read, but one line might be the date 1929.
