Small, Crow Beaded Bag on Buffalo Hide
Crow Tribe
Circa 1880 | Glass Beads, Buffalo hide, Sinew | Item 2701
This colorful, Crow bag on buffalo hide was likely used to hold a mirror or some other small, utility item. The bag is beaded on the front and the inside of the flap. The front geometrical design shows the mirror image of two triangles, bordered with blue, side diamonds with a white border around the whole ensemble. The beads used are: white, light blue, deep blue, green, yellow and red with white hearts. Everything is sewn together with sinew. There are two, hide drops on the lower corners that have medium blue beads. On the inside flap are three beaded triangles in white, red with white hearts, and metalic olive green. The hide is fuzzy and thick as buffalo hide is.
