Spanish Colonial Child’s Chair, 19th Century

Likely Mexico, but unknown origin

19th century | Pine | Item 2337

This is a charming and early mortis and tenon child’s chair. I feel comfortable saying 19th century, and I will update this period as I do further research to pinpoint the date down better. The back rails are chip carved with a four petalled flower. The front legs are lathed and might be borrowed from a old American chair. The chair was painted a dark brown for which much still remains. The patina is rich and warm and attests to much use. The chair is sturdy and solid.
