Spanish Colonial Mexican Bolo Sword

This is a beautiful sword and highly engraved with Spanish words and simple engravings. The horned handle tops with a horses head complete with facial features. Four rivets attached the horn to the top of the blade. The blade is decorated on each side with initials, symbols and words. The steel surface is pitted with age. The sword presents very well, and is an early example with more decoration than typically found. It dates to late 18th to the first half of the 19th century.
