Tin with Print of Christ, Shop of Valencia Red and Green Tinsmith

Valencia Red and Green Tinsmith, Northern New Mexico

1890 - 1910 | Item 2276

The print of Christ in the center is the top layer of many other prints put on before it. The outer cover here is heavy plastic, so I imagine the print of Christ was put in during the early 20th century up to about 1950. These colors of red and green paint are classic signs of the Valencia Tinsmith and confirms New Mexico origins. Interesting to note that gold paint was put on over the earlier red and green paint. This occurs around the frame in the center and around the most outer edge.

Dimensions 9 3/4" diameter
Condition Bent in places, plastic cover over print is missing a corner.
