Transitional Navajo Blanket in Natural Colors
Navajo
Circa 1900 | Wool | Item 2119
Just bigger than a double saddle blanket, this transitional blanket has a classic look with the three centered crosses. The wool is soft and supple, with the weft not heavily twisted so the piece is not heavy. The design is a banded system, with 4 hourglass shapes in the upper and lower half. The center is made up of 3 brown crosses. Bands dominate each end with more background space as one goes towards the center. The overall look is very pleasing. One end is all intact, but has some older darning in it to keep it stable.
