This is an early and beautiful knife sheath with knife. The simplicity of the design and limited color palette make this a special find. The black and white beads create the face of the sheath, all on boot leather, or commercial hide. The sheath is lined with blue and greasy yellow along the fringed edge. […]
This is a rare find, a pony beaded choker or headband on buffalo hide. Large white and blue beads make alternating bands across the length of the front half. The beads are all sewn on with sinew. The back half is un-beaded hide for tying. The beads and hide show nice wear, and some limited, […]
This pipe bag is likely Arapahoe and dates to around 1870 with very small beads. The hide appears to be young buffalo or elk. The workmanship is excellent as are the designs and strong use of color. The top has four, small tabs and the whole rim is beaded as are the edges of the […]
This is a beautiful and interesting tee pee bag, The designs on the front are unusual for these types of bags. One central, diamond is attached at all corners to elongated triangles, all with multiple colors. Two of the triangles are outlined in white beads, and two are outlined with red with white heart beads. […]
This is an amazing catlinite pipe and bowl with wonderful aged patina. The barrel shaped pipe bowl has vertical groves with an opening at the top and the side for the stem. The catlinite stem fits into the barrel in a locked in way to secure the orientation of the matching holes. The stem has […]
These beaded arm bands on hide have three colors of glass beads: white, red with white hearts and faceted deep purple. The beads are sewn on with sinew. They both have purple, silk ribbon attached with remnants of red and beige silk ribbon.
This is a sweet pair of early Plains, likely Cheyenne, child’s moccasins. I like that there is plenty of void around the beaded areas, showing off the supple buffalo hide that has been colored with yellow ochre. The beads are all the earlier variety: deep blue, Plains green, greasy yellow and red with white hearts. […]
This is wonderful and early Ute beaded tail bag. The top 4 3/4″ is a bag, perhaps for fire lighting tools. The bottom 6 3/4″ is a decorative tail coming to a point. The front side is fully beaded with white, light blue, dark blue, pony bead blue, yellow and red with white hearts. The […]
Beaded hide quirt, possibly Crow, made of elk antler with a braided hide whip. The beadwork is done on black stroud, outlined in white with a border of red silk or fine cotton. The beadwork drop is inserted through a hole at the end of the horn. The wide end of the horn has a […]
This is a sweet and attractive miniature beaded Plains Indian vest. It seems to big for a doll and too small for child, unless it was made for a newborn baby. It’s skillfully done, with all glass beads including red with white hearts. The vest comes with the stand. It dates to around 1890.
