Dimensions: 10.25″  tall, 14″ diameter

Description: This is a magical bowl!  The sensuous shape and ancient patina make it an outstanding example of historic pueblo pottery. This type of bowl was made over a very long period at Ohkay Owingeh, so it’s not easy to pinpoint a precise date.  The wear certainly suggests the early range of 1820 – 1870.  The tall height of the widest portion as well as the high degree of out flare at the rim all suggest the earlier date.  No matter what date this was actually made, the bowl speaks for itself.

Provenance: From a private home in Arizona to Michael Higgins.

Restoration:  The bowl has been restored at two points along the rim where more recent chips were mended.  No other restoration has taken place. The existing chips all suggest very early wear due to the patina of the chip surface.
