Highly Complex Spanish Colonial Rio Grande New Mexican Blanket

Description: This Rio Grande blanket is woven as a banded pattern, but many of the bands are made with a “ticking”, or alternating colors.  The effect is sublimely beautiful.   These already soft hues have even more depth with this technique.   The warp is cotton string and the weft is all handspun wool.  The weave is tight and compact.  The blanket is in excellent condition with no restoration.

Restoration:  No restoration.  There are a couple broken warps but no holes and all original.  The colors are even on each side.
