Historic Ohkay Owingeh Bowl (San Juan Pueblo)

Item #: 649
Origin: Ohkay Owingeh (San Juan)
Date: 19th Century
Media: Clay
Dimensions: 6.5″ tall, 10.5″ diameter
Description: This Bowl has a great sense of space and proportion.  The slipped and unslipped line, as well as the powerful fire clouds, all contribute to a beautiful bowl.  The age is suggested to be early, due to the deep, butterscotch color of the base.  The wear is evident, and there are several small dings to the bowl as seen in the photos.  A airline crack from the rim going towards the base at a length of about 4″ was stabilized and restored.
