Large Olla Jar With Spirals And Fleur De Lis

Item #: 250
Origin: Cochiti
Date: Circa 1860
Media: Clay
Dimensions: 9.5 x 14.75 inches diameter
Description: This large jar or olla shows attributes from several Pueblos. While the strongest attribution is Cochiti, there are aspects that show Zuni influence (the large spirals in the body as well as shape). The neck of the jar is very Keres Pueblo in execution (covering both Cochiti as well as Kewa Pueblos) but the body seems to be an amalgam of graphic expressions that makes this jar highly interesting and quite beautiful.
