Pueblo Small Drum

Item: 1263

Origin: Cochiti (Likely)
Date: 1920 or earlier

Media: Wood, hide

Dimensions: 6.75″ tall, 6″ diameter

Description: This small drum is earlier than typical. The deep, earth red paint used to delineate the top and bottom is an earlier paint characteristic. The drum has since had bright blue and yellow painted over the older layers.  Now, most of those bright colors have worn off and the original paint remain. Both beating surfaces also show much use and wear.  It is rare to find such an early drum with no breaks in the hide strapping to connect the two ends. This drum is a little jewel.

Condition:  Condition is very good with one small hole on the beating surface on one side.
