Description:  This smaller  canteen has classic Zia designs in a deep red and dark brown over a tan colored slip.  The round body at the base evolves into a long and attractive neck. There are two lug handles just above the midway part.   Towards the base just below the design work is a dark red band about 3/8″ thick.  This is something done to Zia pottery up to around 1920.

Condition: Condition is original with no restoration.  The pottery surface has areas of small pock marks where the slip has popped away.  This must have occurred during the firing process.

Provenance: From a private collection in Seminole, TX.  Originally purchased The Enchanted Mesa Albuquerque, NM Sept. 1980
