Early New Mexican Straw Cross

Item #: 689
Origin: Spanish Colonial, New Mexico
Date: 18th to early 19th Century
Media: Pine
Dimensions: 13.5″ tall, 7.5″ wide
Description: This sweet cross is wood pegged in the back and has enough remnants of straw left to give a good sense of the pattern.  The pattern is an elongated cross within a square, and this shape is repeated in the Maltese shape in the cross bar.  The cross needs a good cleaning, which I am hesitant to preform.
